VERMILLION, S.D. ÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…â€Å" South Dakota landed 132 student athletes on The Summit League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll with 71 of those honorees earning Distinguished Scholar status. The list honored members of USD's men's and women's basketball teams, men's and women's track and field teams, men's and women's swimming and diving teams, men's and women's golf teams, the tennis team and the softball team.
This year, the Coyotes had the league's second highest number of student athletes receive Distinguished Scholar status and had the league's third highest number on the honor roll.
Among USD teams, women's track and field had the most make the honor roll with 43. Softball had the highest percentage of its roster on the honor roll with 13 of its 15 student athletes making the list (86.7 percent).
In order to make the Academic Honor Roll, a student athlete must have a 3.0 or better GPA (on a four point scale) in the semester in which they compete and must use a year of eligibility. To be named a Distinguished Scholar, the student athlete must have a 3.60 GPA.
