VERMILLION, S.D.—The story of the Coyotes and the Bison was a story of David and Goliath headed into Saturday's game at the Fargodome.
By the numbers, South Dakota had not won in Fargo, N.D., since 1978. North Dakota State had a 26-game home win streak, while South Dakota was on a 14-game Missouri Valley losing streak dating back to 2013.
As head coach
Joe Glenn told Yankton Press and Dakotan's Jeremy Hoeck on Friday before the game, "It's a season-maker if you beat them. They [NDSU] better be ready, and they will be."
In
that same article, senior linebacker
Keyen Lage referenced David and Goliath as well.
South Dakota answered the call on Saturday. The Coyotes (3-3, 1-2 MVFC) scored 10 points in the game's final five minutes and held the Bison (4-2, 2-1) scoreless in the second half, yielding 56 yards on the Bison's five drives.
