2015 Wildcat Classic Results

WAYNE, Neb.--Three Coyote track and field athletes picked up wins at the Wildcat Classic held on Saturday in Wayne, Neb.

Sophomore Kate Kaster picked up her first collegiate win in the 5,000-meter run when she crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 42.64 seconds. Kaster led a pack of Coyotes to top-10 finishes in the event. Freshman Erin Wetzstein finished runner-up, senior Emily Feyereisen took fourth, sophomore Lottie Grimshaw finished seventh and senior Chelsea Albus was ninth.

The women also picked up a win in the 400-meter hurdles when sophomore Lauren Hill crossed the finish line in 1:06.29. Junior teammate Kati Nelson and senior Molly Ervin were fourth and sixth, respectively. Ervin was also fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.

The field events were led by sophomore Tyler Frank's win in the high jump. Frank cleared 6-6 ¾ for the title, while sophomore Hank Lentsch added a third-place finish when he jumped 6-2 ¾.

The men added third-place performances from junior Connor Fitzsimmons in the triple jump (45-1) and sophomore Dustin Valind in the discus (156-7).

Sophomore Danielle Waldner had two top throws on the day. Waldner finished runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 49-1 ¾ and she heaved the hammer 172-5 for third. Junior teammate Kayla Johnson placed ninth in the hammer throw and 10th in the shot put.

The throws crew rounded out their top performances when sophomores Amelia Miller and Elizabeth Szymonski took third and seventh, respectively, in the javelin. Miller's javelin went 118-10 and Szymonski threw 110-00.

South Dakota added top-10 performances from freshman Ryan Bauermeister (5,000 meters, fourth), freshman Tomas Kamenik (400 hurdles, fourth), sophomore Ravan Kott (400 meters, fourth; 200m, sixth), sophomore Jessica Feldman (1,500 meters, fourth), freshman Alexis Clark (high jump, fourth), freshman Cami Brenner (400 meters, fifth), senior Lindsey Montileaux (800 meters, sixth), senior Ali Haines (triple jump, sixth), freshman Ti'Esha Jones (100 meters, eighth), freshman Sarah Quinlivan (high jump, eighth), senior Taylor Huseman (1,500 meters, ninth), freshman Alex Williams (400 meters, ninth) and freshman Lindsay Joyce (1,500 meters, ninth).

Coyote track and field returns to South Dakota next Saturday for The Duels in Sioux Falls, S.D.
