Goehle joins women’s basketball staff

Goehle added to staff

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball head coach Amy Williams has added Tom Goehle to her coaching staff for the 2015-16 season.

"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Tom to our Coyote women's basketball family," said Williams. "He is a talented basketball coach with a passion for serving others. His familiarity with the Summit League and his recruiting ties in our area will allow him to make an immediate impact. Our players will be fortunate to have him as a mentor."

Goehle comes to South Dakota after stops at Coastal Carolina, North Dakota State and Sioux Falls. He worked specifically with the development of post players at each school. In addition, Goehle's duties included recruiting, scouting, coordination of summer camps and game management.

"I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to be a part of the South Dakota community," said Goehle. "I am looking forward to coming alongside of Coach Williams, her staff and this group of talented young women. Amy's passion for the game and love for her players is contagious; I look forward to adding to that love and passion."

His accomplishments at NDSU included the recruitment of Brooke LeMar, an all-Summit League player for the Bison. Goehle also helped two former Bison secure professional contracts overseas.

Goehle has also been heavily involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes since 1993. He began serving as the Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Sports Ambassadors International Sports Ministry in 1996. He coaches the summer basketball teams Guatemala, El Salvador and Singapore.

Prior to arriving at the collegiate level, Goehle spent 15 years working for his alma mater, Hills Beaver Creek school district, in Hills, Minn. Goehle held a variety of positions ranging from a physical education instructor, health science teacher, girls basketball coach, track and field coach and cross country coach.

Goehle graduated from Augustana College with a bachelor's degree in education in 1993.
