Amber Eichkorn and
Mubarik Musa raced to individual titles, while the Coyote men and women won five of six duals at the Bison Open at Rose Creek Golf Course on Friday.
Eichkorn won the four-kilometer race in 13:58.0 with senior
Katie Wetzstein finishing 10 seconds back in second with a time of 14:08.5. Senior
Kelsey Barrett finished seventh in 14:35.4.
To round out the Coyote scorers, freshman
Megan Billington took eighth in 14:52.6 and sophomore
Erin Wetzstein was 11th in 15:05.0. Redshirt freshman
Lindsay Joyce, junior
Nicole Schmidt, sophomore
Bailey Oettel and freshman
Liz Bohn all finished in the top 20.
Musa clocked 18:43.4 through six kilometers to take the title, two seconds ahead of 2013 Summit League Champion Trent Lusignan of South Dakota State. Sophomore
Aaron Breyer placed sixth in 19:16.0 and senior
Isaac Allen was 10th in 19:29.0. With a clocking of 19:37.1, freshman
Nate Wendt took 14th. Sophomore
Brice Cowman was 17th with a time of 19:41.7.
South Dakota's women swept South Dakota State, North Dakota State, and North Dakota. The men grabbed wins over South Dakota State and North Dakota.
The Coyotes take the next two weeks off before returning to action at Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26 in Minneapolis, Minn.
