VERMILLION, S.D.—University of South Dakota, Coyote Sports Properties and Midco Sports Network
® have agreed to a $3.05 million partnership that will provide broadcast cabling throughout the DakotaDome and the Coyotes' new basketball and volleyball arena, cable service to all televisions throughout the two facilities, and a mobile video production cart that can stream live events for soccer, track & field, and other events. The agreement, which runs through June of 2026, includes a cash gift from MidcoSN to USD of $750,000.
"Support like this is based on our longstanding partnership with Midco Sports Network and a shared vision to deliver a first-class facility to this campus, the community and the state," said South Dakota Athletic Director
David Herbster. "MidcoSN's investment in this project is a testament to its leadership and commitment to excellence."
In return, MidcoSN has obtained broadcast rights to Coyote events, advertising inventory throughout the facilities and naming rights to the production booth in the new arena.
"It's great to extend this partnership for 10 years, as it ensures that University of South Dakota live games and Coyote sports shows are seen across the region on MidcoSN," said Mark Powell, Vice President of Business Development at MidcoSN. "Coyote fans live throughout the Midco cable TV footprint in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota – plus MidcoSN is available through several affiliate partners in the region. We're proud to deliver them high-quality TV productions of Coyote athletics."
MidcoSN has produced Coyote athletic events and football and basketball coach's shows since 2012 and will continue to do so throughout this agreement.
CSP, a property of Learfield, has served as the multimedia rights holder and sports marketing arm for USD athletics since 2011. CSP handles signage and sponsorship at all USD athletic venues, certain radio and television programming and management of the Coyote Radio Network.
"Midco has been an outstanding partner, and we're pleased to see them move their commitment to another level," said Coyote Sports Properties' General Manager
Travis Lee. "This extension signals a new chapter in their significant investment in USD athletics, and it's been a pleasure to work with Midco's team Mark Powell, Trish McCann and Terry Hunter in making this happen."
The Coyotes' new arena is part of a larger $73 million facility project that broke ground in the summer of 2014. It includes a science, health and research lab and an outdoor track and soccer complex. The arena and outdoor track and soccer complex will be completed ahead of the 2016-17 academic year.
