VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota senior setter
Brittany Jessen of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, is one of eight players selected to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Volleyball Team announced Thursday. It is the first such honor for Jessen, who advances to the Academic All-America Team ballot with honorees to be announced in December.
Jessen, named Summit League Setter of the Year for the third consecutive season Thursday, is a four-time all-Summit League honoree. Jessen leads the Summit and ranks 85
th nationally in assists per set (10.23). She recently became the program's all-time assists leader, and her 4,725 career assists are fifth-most amongst active Division I players. Jessen also leads the Coyotes with 27 aces and has 102 kills and 237 digs.
Jessen and North Dakota State's Brianna Rasmusson represent the Summit League on the team. Both teams are in Denver preparing for the start of the Summit League Tournament. The Coyotes (16-10, 10-4 Summit) take on Fort Wayne (12-18, 4-10) at 7 p.m. CT Friday in the second game of the tournament.
