ELMHURST, Ill.—South Dakota junior guard
Allison Arens has been named the Summit League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ended Nov. 19.
Arens collects the honor for the first time this season and third time of her career. Arens averaged 16 points, 7.5 rebounds and a pair of steals in leading the Coyotes to wins over Creighton and Wichita State. The junior scored 15 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Coyotes defeated the defending co-Big East champion Bluejays 73-68. She added 13 points and nine rebounds, including four offensive boards, in South Dakota's 62-48 road victory at Wichita State.
A native of Crofton, Neb., Arens was an all-Summit League first-team honoree a year ago. She led the Coyotes in scoring (17.1), assists (3.8) and steals (1.7) last season and ranked second on the team in rebounds (5.3) and blocks (0.6).
The Coyotes compete at the Cancun Challenge in Mexico this weekend. South Dakota faces Oklahoma State, Indiana State and Tennessee in a three-day stretch from Nov. 23-25.
