COLUMBIA, Mo.—South Dakota's
Tommy Vining shot even-par (216 strokes) as he finished in eighth-place to lead the Coyotes at the Tiger Invitational which was held Monday and Tuesday at The Club at Old Hawthorne. This is Vining's third top-10 finish of the season.

The tournament consisted of 18 teams and 96 players. It included Summit League opponents IUPUI, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.

Vining started the tournament with a two-under par 70. He made seven birdies during his opening round. He followed the first-round with a 75 in the second. He bounced back to shoot a 71 in the third. He shot his second-lowest tournament of the season as he finished with 216 strokes and in eighth-place. Vining had the second-most birdies of anyone at the tournament as he finished with 16. Only one Summit League golfer finished better than Vining as IUPUI's Austin Crowder came in fifth at 2-under par (67-70-77-214).

Missouri's Linus Lilliedahl won the tournament at 5-under par. Lilliedahl got better every round as he started his tournament with a 73 in round one. He shot a 70 in the second and a 68 in the third to finish with 211 strokes. Austin Peay State's Erik Hedberg (71-72-69) and Missouri's Hayden Buckley (75-70-67) tied for second with 212 strokes. Buckley's 67 tied with Crowder for the lowest round. Hedberg recorded the most birdies with 19.

Missouri, the 30
th ranked team in the nation and host of the tournament, took home the team title at 7-under par. The Tigers were the only team to shoot under-par. They started with a 295 in the first round and were in third-place. In round two, they improved by over 10 strokes as they shot a 283 and moved into first-place. The Tigers continued to get better and fired a 279 in the third as they finished with 857 strokes. Northern Illinois came in second at 11-over par (294-295-286-875) and Austin Peay State was third at 26-over par (296-300-291). South Dakota tied for 12
th at 46-over par (304-308-298-910). The Coyotes beat South Dakota State (50-over par) and Western Illinois (51-over par).

Matt Tolan finished in a tie for 44
th at 13-over par (77-78-74-229). Senior
Cody Seal (82-81-74-237) and junior
Matt Swanson (77-76-84-237) rounded out the team score as the duo tied for 74
th. In round one, Swanson made an eagle on the par-5 10
th hole. He was the only Coyote to record an eagle. Freshman
Scott Fudenberg also competed for USD and finished in a tie for 81
st at 22-over par (80-79-79-238).

The tournament served as the final regular season meet for the Coyotes. Up next, South Dakota travels to Newton, Kan. For the Summit League Championships April 30-May 2.
