ELMHURST, Ill.—South Dakota's
Tommy Vining and
Cody Seal were named to the 2016-17 first and second all-Summit League teams, respectively, which was announced Saturday evening at a banquet prior to the start of the Summit League Championships.
A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Vining was one of five golfers named to the all-league first team. The sophomore shot a third-round score of 66, his season low, at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. He is fifth in the league with a stroke average of 73.50. He has three top-10 performances, shot a team-high 11 rounds under-par and has a win-loss record of 540-254. Vining was one of three sophomores named to the first team.
A senior from Victoria, Minn., Seal was named to the all-league second team. He was second on South Dakota's team and ninth in the Summit with a stroke average of 74.37. He finished tied for second at the UNO invitational and finished in the top-10 of two more events. For his career, he has a stroke average of 75.80. Seal was just one of two golfers named to the all-league teams.
The 2017 Summit League Men's Golf Championships take place Sunday through Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club. The Coyotes tee off at 10:50 a.m. Sunday.
