VERMILLION, S.D.—The NCAA has granted South Dakota women's basketball player
Caitlin Duffy a sixth year of eligibility the organization announced Wednesday.
Duffy is the 2015-16 Summit League Transfer of the Year, but did not compete last season due to injury. She started all but three games two years ago and averaged nearly nine points in helping lead the Coyotes to the 2016 WNIT Championship. Duffy has totaled 881 points in three seasons, the first two of which were played at Colorado State.
"We are all excited about this great news from the NCAA," said USD women's basketball coach
Dawn Plitzuweit. "Caitlin is such a great young lady and we could not be more thrilled for her and for our program.
"We would like to thank
Jamie Oyen, our senior associate AD, as she worked tirelessly on compiling the information necessary for this waiver."
Duffy hails from Rapid City, S.D., and is joined on the team by younger sister, Ciara, the 2016-17 Summit League Freshman of the Year. Ciara started all 32 games for the Coyotes this past season and averaged 11 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
