    A new era of South Dakota football began on Dec. 5, 2011, when alumnus Joe Glenn was named the Coyotes' 29th head coach. Glenn is a two-time AFCA National Coach of the Year honoree who has combined to win three national championships at the Division II and FCS levels. He will enter 2014 with the sixth-most wins among active FCS head coaches.

    Wesley Beschorner

    Associate Head Coach/Off. Coordinator

    From Offensive Scout Team MVP to Harlon Hill finalist to now associate head coach and offensive coordinator, Wesley Beschorner has been the class of South Dakota football since he arrived on campus as a student in 2001. The 2014 season is his ninth on the coaching staff,sixth as coordinator andthird as associate head coach. He also works with the quarterbacks.

    Jason Petrino

    Petrino has teamed up with head coach Joe Glenn for the third time since 2003, this time as defensive coordinator, a position Petrino has held in six of the last eight college football seasons. The 2014 season will be histhird with the Coyotes who are sporting a 3-4 look under Petrino's tutelage.

    Adam Breske

    Inside Linebackers

    Breske has been instrumental in the development of South Dakota linebackers since 2007. He began his work as a graduate assistant, was hired full-time after receiving his master's degree in 2009 and spent the 2011 campaign as the Coyotes' co-defensive coordinator. A half a dozen all-conference players have benefitted from Breske's teaching including three who earned the distinction in multiple seasons.

    Matthew Middleton

    Wide Receivers

    Former Ottawa University standout Matthew Middleton is inhis second season aswide receivers coach.

    Middleton most recently was a graduate assistant working with the wide receivers at the University of Kansas in Lawrence where he spent the 2012 season. He coached the wideouts and return men as a volunteer assistant at Chadron State College (NCAA Div. II) during the 2011 campaign.

    Brett Harvey

    One of the first recruiting classes of the Joe Glenn Dynasty at Northern Colorado included Longmont, Colo., native Brett Harvey. As a senior in 1994, Harvey earned the Vic Nottingham Award as the Most Valuable Offensive Lineman on the team and was also an all-conference honoree. Upon earning his degree in kinesiology, Glenn hired Harvey to be his offensive line and tight ends coach - a position he would thrive and succeed in for more than a decade.

    Marquice Williams

    Defensive Line/Community Relations

    Marquice Williams is set to begin histhird season with the Coyotes andsecond as defensive line coach. He served as outside linebackers coach in 2012 and worked with a group that included current Atlanta Falcon Tyler Starr.

    Williams earned his associates degree from Fresno City College in his hometown of Fresno, Calif., in 2005 and earned his bachelor's degree in university studies from University of Mary (N.D.) in 2008.

    Ryan Jirgl

    Volunteer Assistant Coach/Safeties

    Ryan Jirgl enters his first season coaching safeties at South Dakota after coaching linebackers and special teams the past two seasons at Albright College (Pa.). He helped Albright (a D-III program) to back-to-back 8-3 seasons.

    Prior to coaching at Albright, Jirgl was a two-year starter at safety for Winona State. During his collegiate career he helped the Warriors to two NSIC championships, two NCAA D-II playoff appearances and was an All-Northern Sun selection in 2010.

    Luke Groth

    Luke Groth begins his third year as Director of Football Operations at the University of South Dakota. Groth is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the South Dakota football program including organizing team travel, oversight of the football budget, future scheduling, coordinating team meals and meetings, football event management, and all social media.
