    Jacks tie rivalry with 37-14 win

    BROOKINGS, S.D.--South Dakota State quarterback Austin Sumner passed for a career-high 395 yards and three touchdowns to lead the 15th-ranked Jackrabbits to a 37-14 win against South Dakota Saturday at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium in what was the final regular season game for both teams.

    VERMILLION, S.D.--South Dakota true freshmen Riley Donovan and Drew Potter were named to the 2013 College Sports Journal FCS All-Freshman Team announced recently. Both were first-team selections.


    'Yotes lead early, trail late at Kansas

    LAWRENCE, Kan.--Six Kansas ball carriers combined to rush for 280 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Jayhawks to a 31-14, season-opening victory against the South Dakota Coyotes Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

    One of nine Coyotes who earned time as a true freshman ... played in all 12 games ... was named to the 2013 College Sports Journal FCS All-Freshmen Team (first-team pick) ... took over as starting fullback hallway through the season ... caught three passes during the season ... lead blocker for a team that averaged 144 yards on the ground ... Coyotes ran for 205 yards and two scores in his first collegiate start vs. Indiana State (10/12) ... it was one of three 200-plus rushing efforts for USD during the season.

    Three-year varsity captain and two-time all-state honorable mention a senior, named first-team all-league as a running back and second team all-league as a defensive lineman after running for 1,123 yards and 15 touchdowns, catching 10 passes for 200 yards and recording 58 tackles and four forced fumbles, a junior, made 76 tackles (22 for loss) and ran for 506 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to first team all-league honors as a defensive lineman and second team all-league honors as a running back.
