BROOKINGS, S.D.--Four South Dakota seniors competed at the National Football League Pro Day in front of a handful of scouts on Wednesday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
South Dakota (2-7, 0-5 MVFC) seeks to end a five-game skid and score its first Missouri Valley victory today when the Coyotes host the Western Illinois Leathernecks (3-6, 1-4) in a 4 p.m. kick from inside the DakotaDome.
VERMILLION, S.D.--Western Illinois quarterback Trenton Norvell threw touchdown passes to five different receivers in leading the Fighting Leathernecks to a 44-29 victory against South Dakota Saturday inside the DakotaDome.
It took South Dakota three quarters to build a 17-7 lead. It took five minutes for Youngstown State to erase it. The 13th-ranked Penguins outscored the Coyotes 21-0 in the final quarter to escape with a 28-17 win Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. Youngstown State improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Missouri Valley with road trips to unbeaten Illinois State and North Dakota State looming on the schedule.
South Dakota (2-6, 0-4 MVFC) begins the second half of Missouri Valley play looking to play spoiler against 13th-ranked Youngstown State (6-2, 3-1 MVFC), a team in search of its first playoff berth since 2006. Kickoff from Stambaugh Stadium in Youngstown, Ohio, is set for 1 p.m. CDT.
