    Powell, Robb named to MVFC All-Academic Team

    University of South Dakota senior wide receiver Will Powell and junior placekicker Kevin Robb have been named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic Team as announced by the league office. Both were second-team selections.

    One of 10 Coyotes who started all 11 games, he at defensive end...honorable mention academic all-MVFC honoree...USD's Tim McFarland Lineman of the Year...led USD defensive linemen with 37 tackles and ranked ninth overall...ranked fourth on the team with four tackles for loss including 2.5 sacks, which tied for second on the team...had a career-high 13 tackles in the season opener at Montana (9/1)...had four tackles including a sack vs. Western Illinois (10/6)...had a solo sack of 21 yards at Missouri State (10/13) of 26 Coyotes on the team with a cumulative GPA above 3.0.

    Played in 10 games on the defensive line for the Coyotes...finished with 26 tackles including 17 solo stops...Had 6.5 tackles for loss for 32 yards, including five sacks for 29 yards which was second on the team...Recorded one forced fumble and two quarterback hurries...Had a season-high six tackles at Illinois State where he earned team defensive player of the week honors (Oct. 15).

    Appeared in 10 games and made two starts on USD's defensive line...finished with 24 tackles, including 10 solo stops...posted a season-high five tackles against Northern Colorado...made six tackles for loss for 28 yards...earned a team-high three sacks for 18 yards...forced one fumble and recovered one fumble...named USD's Defensive Player of the Week once during the season.

    Played in Coyote wins over William Penn, Drake and Southeastern Louisiana...notched one tackle.

    Redshirted his first season in the USD program.

    Had 62 tackles, 17 for a loss, and eight sacks his senior season for St. Paul Highland Park High School...named team captain and selected conference Defensive Player of the Year...was All-Conference first team and honorable mention All-State...letter winner in track as well...played for coach Dave Zeitchick.
