As a Coyote: 1999--Steve is third in receiving on the team with 17 catches for 127 yards for a 15.9 average...named honorable mention USD Offensive Hustle Player of the Week vs. North Dakota and honorable mention Offensive Player of the Week vs. Montana. 1998--He earned second Coyote letter...hauled in 16 passes for 298 yards for 18.6 average and tied for team-high three touchdowns...caught 78 yard pass. 1997--missed season with wrist injury and as redshirted...named South Dakota's Offensive Scout Team Player of the Week vs. Nebraska-Omaha. 1996--awarded first average and cought 16-yard touchdown pass against North Dakota State.
At high school: Steve earned all-Black Hills Conference and academic all-state honors for Custer High School...voted the school's most valuable player and was the school's only three-sport letterwinner as a senior (football, basketball, track)...a three-year starter who hauled in 39 receptions for 589 yards for 15.1 average and eight touchdowns as a senior...as a junior caught 21 passes for 305 yards for 14.5 average and five touchdowns...state track meet qualifier in the 400, 800, and relays.
